Camp Loud Thunder is one of the only Boy Scout councils to have its own observatory on camp property.  As one of the largest outdoor observatories in the region, this building provides a great chance for star-gazing that will enhance any camping trip.

Units are welcome and encouraged to use the observatory to help Boy Scouts complete their Astronomy Merit Badge and Cub Scouts earn their Astronomy belt loop and pin.

Contact John Schaub, Observatory Facilitator, at (563) 209-4534 or bsa1313@netins.net; or the Illowa Council Service Center at (563) 388-7233 for details about using the observatory.
