The minimum age requirement to be on Camp Staff is 15 years of age by June 1. Applicants must be registered members of the Boy Scouts of America as a Scout, Venturer, or adult or agree to become registered before employment may be offered. The Boy Scout Eagle Rank or Venturing Silver Award are important factors in Camp Staff Selection for those under 18. The principles of the Scout Oath and Scout Law must be practiced as a way of life. The staff sets an example of excellence in Scouting which includes the proper wearing of the uniform. Staff members agree to report on time for training and remain until the session ends. Staff members are expected to reside in housing provided by the Illowa Council. Proof of citizenship will be required at time of employment. Employees must be available for employment from June 2-July 14, exceptions including those for Jamboree Participants or Staff must be requested during interviews. Employees are also expected to attend two weekend training session in March/April 2013. Area Director Interviews will take place in November 2012, the rest of the Camp Staff Interviews will take place on December 15, 2012. Interviews are made by appointment after an Camp Staff Application has been submitted to the Council Service Center.

Loud Thunder Counselors in Training "CIT"
The minimum age requirement to be a Counselor in Training is 14 years of age by June 1. Applicants must be registered members of the Boy Scouts of America as a Scout or Venturer and have been active in their program for at least one year. The principle of the Scout Oat and Law must be practiced as a way of life. Counselors in Training set an example of excellence in Scouting which includes the proper wearing of the uniform. Counselors in Training report on time to all of their assignments and remain until the session ends. Counselors in Training are required to reside in housing provided by the Illowa Council. The Counselor in Training program is a one week program with a rotation through program areas. Similar to the full time Camp Staff, Counselors in Training will be asked to do a variety of tasks during their stay at camp. Counselors in Training who excel during their first week may be asked back to Camp Loud Thunder for a second week focused in the area(s) they excelled in. 2013 Counselor in Training Sessions are: June 9-15, June 16-22, June 23-29, or June 30-July 6.
