MAINTAIN UNIT RETENTION
Our Vision
Maximize unit re-chartering percentage in each district.
Illowa Council Commissioners’ Strategic Objectives & Goals
Objective I: We will monitor every unit’s health on a monthly basis.
Strategies to Achieve the Objective:
- Visit unit committee meetings at least quarterly.
- Visit youth meetings at least quarterly.
- Visit with unit leaders away from meetings at least 3 times per year.
Specific Goals:
- Unit Commissioners must visit assigned units a minimum of 9 months per year.
- Unit Commissioners anticipate problems to be proactive. [Monthly]
- Unit Commissioners must know if their Units have an adult leadership succession plan & discuss it with their units. If a unit does not have a plan, Commissioner works with the unit to develop it. [April & August annually]
- Promote outdoor activities & field trips. [Monthly]
- Promote & educate unit on financial health & budget planning. [Annually]
Objective II: Promote positive relationships with all adults.
Strategies to Achieve the Objective:
- Promote unit leader training including team building & utilization of Project C.O.P.E.
- Charter partner recognition & relationship building.
Specific Goals:
- Work with unit leadership to help plan youth recruiting dates & events. [Spring & Fall]
- Assist Unit Leaders in identifying adult resources via Adult Surveys when recruiting youth. [Spring & Fall]
- Promote unit leader training opportunities including Roundtables & use of C.O.P.E. course. [Monthly]
- Encourage units to invite charter partner to all unit activities. [Quarterly]
- Provide Lifesaving team of commissioners, district committee & executives. [if needed]
