Illowa Council 2014 Philmont Trek
WHAT/WHEN: Sign up now for one of three (3) contingent troop crews going to Philmont in Cimarron, New Mexico on JUNE 29, 2014. The trip will leave by train from Galesburg, IL on the 28th and return 14 days later. Each crew of 12 (9 Scouts and 3 leaders) will choose its own itinerary through the rugged outback of the 214 square miles of Philmont. Scouts will experience different adventure activities during nightly stop on the trail ranging from archery, fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding and many more, while earning the prestigious "Philmont Patch" that only those who complete a trek are permitted to wear. Treks itineraries vary in length from 40 to 70 miles depending on the trail chosen. Carrying all their gear in their packs, Scouts will build self-reliance, confidence and teamwork while enjoying the wilderness.

All must be in good physical condition and have completed the Boy Scout Medical Form, parts A, B, C & D. COST: Total cost will be $1,375/person to be paid to Illowa Council.
