October 2010 News....
+ The big news is that Cub Scout leaders can now receive full training online. Cub Scout Leader Position-Specific Training is now live, along with Youth Protection training, Cub Scout Fast Start, and This Is Scouting. All are located on the e-learning page on www.myscouting.org. Cub Scout Leader Position-Specific Training is made up of three parts. The first part is an introduction to Scouting and to the Cub Scout pack. The second part explains how Cub Scouts have fun in the pack and den, and the third part has specific training for each of the major Cub Scout leader positions: Cubmaster, den leader, pack committee, and pack trainer. (Click here for details)
+ We also want to remind everyone that individual training record validation is now available to all Scouters. Go to www.myscouting.org, sign in with your user name and password, and click on Training Validation on the left side of the page. A list of all your training courses will be displayed. If your record is incomplete, contact your council office or your district training chair
+ As a restated reminder, if you feel you have all the skills required in Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills it may not be necessary to take the course. Anyone who feels they can demonstrate all of the skills for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class should contact their District Training Chair and schedule a one-on-one session with a member of the training team.
This statement also applies to Venturing Youth (over 18 years of age) who are able to demonstrate outdoor leader skills to an IOLS Certified Course Instructor.
