PROJECT C.O.P.E.
Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience

What is Project COPE?

Project COPE is a four day course offered at the Loud Thunder Scout Reservation, 5 miles west of Andalusia, Illinois on IL92. This program provides the means for groups to challenge themselves to reach personal and team goals. COPE is designed to break down barriers between individuals and create an atmosphere of shared leadership and problems. COPE comprises a series of outdoor challenges, beginning with basic group initiative games and progressing to more complicated low-course and high-course activities. Participants may climb, swing, balance, jump, and rappel as well as think through solutions to a variety of challenges.

What does Project COPE offer?

  • The creation of a decision making process by encouraging the group to perform where there is uncertainty of results
  • An enlightening and satisfying opportunity to prove to the group that a seemingly insurmountable task or problem can be overcome
  • An environment of safety, mutual support, and encouragement
  • Leadership, Problem solving, Communication, Self-esteem, Trust, Decision making and Teamwork

Who can participate?

Project COPE is designed for groups ranging from 10-36 people interested in developing self confidence and team work in a group setting. The Project COPE course is designed to adapt to each groups’ specific needs and interests. The Project COPE course serves businesses and corporations as well as groups from schools, churches, and civic organizations. All youth participants must be age 13 by January 1st.
