New Scouts can attend FREE and will receive a collectible Hooked on Scouting lure for submitting their applications before Sept. 11th. Existing Scouts are invited to attend for a $2 fee and will also receive the event patch.

Explorers meet at the Public Safety Building and receive hands-on training and information from the professionals. Many Explorers continue their education and become officers and firefighters. | HOOVER DISTRICT SCOUTING FOR FOOD |

| Here's your chance to 'Do a good turn' and help feed those in need. March 17 from 9:00am-12:00noon, Scouts will be going door-to-door in Muscatine and Wilton accepting donations of non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army and the Wilton/Durant food pantries. You can help by picking up food, driving Scouts or by dropping off your donation at the Salvation Army.

DISTRICT COMMISSIONER'S MEETING - District Commissioner Bob Morrison held the monthly commissioner meeting in October with Jim Nepple, District Chairman, and Tom McDermott, Illowa Scout Executive in attendance. The Hoover commissioners have been very involved in District activities, recruitment and the promotion of training to unit leaders. The in-depth meeting identified the successes and needs of the units as they plan to become a Quality District in 2006! |

POW WOW TRAINING

- This year the important POW-WOW Cub Leader training happens on Saturday, November 4 from 8:00am-4:00pm at Davenport West High School. The day-long program includes classes, a games and information midway, lunch, and more! In addition, leaders can take advantage of special training opportunities like Cub Scout Leader Specifics, Boy Scout Leader Specifics, and Den Chief Training.
The registration fee is $15 OR $12 if received by October 25. The fee includes training, all activities, program materials, a patch, morning snacks, and lunch!

| Cub Scouts from Bennett, Durant, Muscatine, Wilton and West Liberty learned proper handling and flag etiquette from the Iowa National Guard. Members of the Wilton and Muscatine American Legions conducted a flag burning ceremony to demonstrate proper disposal of weathered flags. |

| Troop 127's Good Turn for America! |

- Scouts and their leaders continued a four-year tradition Friday evening, June 9th volunteering for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life at the Muscatine High School. Troop 127 set up hundreds of luminaries around the track for local cancer survivors as well as victims. The event features local speakers and volunteers who walk around the track throughout the night raising money for cancer research. |

Webelos and Adults at Saulsbury Recreation Area - Over 60 Scouts and adults participated in the Hoover Spring Webelos Campout held May 6-7! Reports are that the weather was great, events ran on-time, and EVERYONE enjoyed themselves. A 'DISTRICT SIZED' Thank You! goes to Rich & Kim Kassmeyer and all the dedicated Scouters who created a very special week-end for all who attended! |

| . . Cub Scouts from McKinley PTO Pack 114 have gone 'above and beyond' in their effort to protect and promote wildlife. Working with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Scouts and their leaders have been involved in a three-year Bluebird Nest Box Project at Shady Creek Recreation Area near Muscatine.
